Taking a deep breath… Today I have been struggling to find a topic for this article. It should be helpful, topic-related. Giftedness, multipotentials and high sensitivity should play a role, or at least one of them. If possible, present a problem and the appropriate solution right away…you know the drill.
But I was constantly distracted by thoughts of friends, family or clients whose lives have just been overwhelming enough to make them think they can only react. Always reacting to what life throws at them, without any time or energy to turn the tables… just keep running and breathing.*
Sometimes, There is not a lot we can do, we just can breathe.
Fortunately! Because breathing is the beginning.
Your life began with your first independent breath. Before every spoken word, every sprint, every project comes the breath. Especially in stressful situations we often forget to breathe, at some point we notice in amazement that we have unintentionally held our breath. We became paralyzed and rigid… and feel a sudden and desperate need for oxygen.
So we expel the stale air and draw the fresh air deep into our lungs… ahhhhhh, how good that feels.
Even in the wildest changes of our everyday life we can decide how we breathe: unconsciously or consciously. Either only out of reflex or with the conscious intention to calm us down through the breath or to supply us with energy. Only flatly or with intention, deep into the belly, letting go and starting anew with every breath.
It is your decision.
If there is a little bit more energy available at the moment, if you have a second to organize your thoughts, try this:
When everything becomes too much,
because new developments are constantly pushing into your life,
People disappear and new people appear,
your work unintentionally restructures itself
and construction sites are everywhere,
then breathe.
Breathe and count your blessings:
the favourite people, the reliable ones,
the beautiful things,
the green hills.
Count your dreams, the gifts
and all your creations,
even if they are so very small,
because in the scale of your days
a love letter weighs far more than a truck that causes traffic jams.
Heartfelt, wherever you are,
*“Just keep swimming, swimming, swimming…!“
P.S.: I love you. Seriously, I do. That is what makes me go up and write and think… because I see you, I hear you, and I deeply care. So, please, breathe on, you crazy diamond!
