Spring unsprung

It is still cold outside.
The sun is still low in the sky, the shadows harsh.
My cats go prowling in the Midday sun, but come back soon to sleep on wool and warmth.
It is still winter. And yet…
There is a spark inside the still dead branches.
There is some promise in those meagre rays of sun.
Can you feel it?
It has been long enough. Spring has to come.

Spring must come.

My dreams last night have been dark.
Not nightmarish, just heavy, and full of dread.
As if I were dreaming another me in another universe.
I sometimes do.
Today I was glad to wake up here, but it has been the other way around before.
(Whenever someone tries to explain to me about “reality” I just tell them the world inside me is so much bigger than the world outside.
Then it usually gets complicated, they raise their voice, they get agitated, they try harder.
And I smile…
)

Today I woke to a cup of tea and a cat.

A sunbeam and my lover’s kiss welcomed me into the new day.
So of course today’s life is better than my dreams!
I am home, I am warm, I have tea and food, and the peace I need to write.
May you be blessed with the same. I mean it.
For as adventurous as you get, there’s no place like home.
Or is there?

If you look really close, you can see a red glow in the branches of the trees.

So, they are preparing for spring, already.
They too know that winter has been long enough.
They too are about to wake up.
And I am sure spring will be glorious.
Overwhelming,
flamboyant,
over-the-top outrageous,
as it always is.
Just to make sure we remember how beautiful life can be.

Heartfelt, wherever you are dreaming,
